The Puzzle

The first edition of The Puzzle was the first Dissectology piece created by Fiona during her masters degree, it features the stunning Blue Morpho with its wings cut into jigsaw pieces.
“This piece was created at a time in my life when much of my work was exploring the juxtoposition of the fragilty and beauty of life as I tried to make sense of much that was going on in mine”

Part of Fiona’s Vanitas collection, the piece explores our mortality and the perspective that the inevitability of death brings to our lives and has been praised for its composition and popular since its launch.

Framed and comprising of a Blue Morpho butterfly cut into a jigsaw puzzle.

The Puzzle features the beautiful Morpho Menelaus Zischkai butterfly found in found in Central and South America. Many of my specimens come from historical collections, others through from breeding and conservation projects (read more here).
